HELP!!! I am so overwhelmed and have NO CLUE where to start!
This blog is for any Mom, Prepper, Husband, Survival Wanna-Be (you get the point) that feels this way, but doesn’t know what to do about it. There are too many benefits and reasons to name for becoming better prepared, but the most rewarding is the peace of mind you have knowing you can care for your loved ones no matter what crisis may lie ahead.
Don’t panic, I broke it down into 5 simple steps (Located on the LEFT).
Below is a brief description of each step, but for detailed instructions click the tabs on the left hand side.
All you do now is start with STEP 1 and then move on when you’re ready!
1- PLAN
You can’t begin anything if you don’t have a plan or vision of what you want to accomplish. This is the most critical step, but most often over-looked. Buying a bunch of food is the easy part, knowing what to buy and what to do with it takes some planning!
2- BUY
Once you have a plan it’s much easier to make shopping lists, figure out what you need and then go purchase it. Sometimes trying to find the best products or lowest prices can be tricky so check out some of the posts in this section to help you along.
3- PRESERVE
One of the most important steps to buying food is making sure you preserve it long enough so it’s still good by the time you want to eat it. You might be surprised, there really isn’t anything that can’t be preserved for at least a few years. I try not to store anything that doesn’t have at least a 3 year shelf life.
4- ORGANIZE
You may have a year supply of food, but if you can’t find it then what’s the point? By organizing your food you can start effectively using it and rotating it. You don’t have to wait until a disaster to start benefiting from your food storage today. Take a little time to come up with a system that works for you!
5- EAT
There are so many amazing meals you can cook with all the food you have stored, you just have to try them. It can be a little scary at times, especially when using canned beef, just make sure to say an extra prayer over your food :) The best part about having everything to make meals at home is you only have to drag the kids to the store if you really want to. Otherwise, kick-back and eat some more chocolate!
COMMIT ALREADY!!!
“I bear my humble witness to you that the great God of heaven will open doors and means in a way we never would have supposed to help all those who truly want to get their year’s supply. The Lord will make it possible, if we make a firm commitment,… All we have to do is to decide, commit to do it, and then keep the commitment. Miracles will take place; the way will be opened, we will have our storage areas filled.”
