45-Minute Dinner Roll Recipe

Monica made these crescent rolls to go with her homemade strawberry jam and we immediately had to have the recipe. I tried not to look like an oinker , but couldn’t help myself sneaking another one each time I walked by. Beware, you will instantly become very popular wherever you take these.

Monica’s Famous Crescent Roll Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 4 1/2 tsp. instant yeast
  • 1 T. sugar
  • Proof for 5 minutes (until bubbly). Then add:
  • 1 1/4 c. warm milk
  • 2 T. sugar
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 3 T. melted butter
  • 3 1/4 to 4 1/4 c. flour (can use a mix of all-purpose and wheat)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Mix in mixer until no longer sticky. Spray bread and bowl with Pam. Cover. Let rise for 15 minutes. Divide dough in half. Shape rolls by rolling into a pizza crust shape. Spread melted butter over dough. Cut with pizza cutter into slice shapes. Roll from outside in. Place rolls in pan sprayed with Pam. Place rolls close together. Cover loosely with a damp towel. Let rise for 15 minutes. Bake in preheated 425 oven for 8-10 minutes - only until golden on top. Use a pastry brush to spread melted butter on top

I just made these tonight and all I have to say is AMAZING! I’m a disaster when it comes to making bread and these turned out wonderful and done in less than hour, more like 45 minutes from start to finish! Thanks Monica for sharing!!!

What if you don’t have a mixer? Do you mix it with you hands or a hand mixer?

Yes, you can always do it with your hands. It usually just takes a little longer and some extra skill in kneading the dough. I don’t have skills and am not patient, so the Bosch mixer is what I prefer and definitely recommend for many reasons! You might mess up a hand mixer if you try using that for bread.
